Mazda has lifted the wraps from the latest addition to its swoopily-styled ‘Nagare’ range of concept vehicles. The Kazamai is supposedly an indication of what to expect from Mazda’s future crossover vehicles.

The Kazamai (Japanese for ‘swirling crosswinds’) will make its debut at the Moscow Motor Show in late August and, according to Mazda, will give the public an idea of what the company’s future intentions for its crossover vehicles are.

So, how does the future, according to Mazda, look? Well, swoopy. The ‘crosswind’ motif is certainly evident in the numerous strakes accentuating the flanks and the trio of slashes that form the brake light clusters.

Those formidable 22-inch alloy wheels certainly look as though they could generate some low-level turbulence at speed. The nose is very much ‘Nagare’, bearing a strong resemblance to the likes of the Taiki, Furai and, obviously, the Nagare itself. An enjoyable driving experience and environmentally friendly technology are the Kazamai’s key attributes. The powerplant is believed to be a next-generation, direct-injection unit mated with a newly-developed transmission system. These features, along with a lightweight, robust chassis and aerodynamic bodywork will contribute to the Kazamai’s low fuel consumption and carbon-dioxide outputs.
