German tuning firm Hamann-Motorsport may not have been the fastest out of the blocks when it came to developing a tuning kit for the refreshed BMW 6 Series, but better late than never, the finished project has finally emerged from its premises – albeit a tad bit disappointing.

To enhance the aerodynamic qualities of the standard car, the Laupheim-based tuner strapped on an Edition Race body kit, comprising of widened front and rear spoilers, side skirts and a subtle pair of roof and boot spoilers. Housed in the wide fender flares are a set of HM Evo, one-piece 20-inch wheels covered in 245/35 Hankook S1 rubber up front, while the rear set is wrapped in 285/30 rubber. Alternatively, there is the option of a 21-inch rim – dubbed the HM Evo “Forged”, these are manufactured in forge technology, extremely light and allow for wider tyres all round.

So that’s the exterior sorted, but the engine upgrades don’t quite live up to the aerodynamic package. It seems that Hamann has neglected the 630i, 650i and 635d engines, only just upping the performance of each powerplant by fettling with the engine management for measly 15 kW power increase and removing the electronic limiters – whereas BMW specialist AC Schnitzer has extracted a lot more from its 6 Series tuning project. What customers can look forward to is the scream emitted by the stainless steel exhaust system’s four round tailpipes though.

It might no be as powerful as its competitors, but Hamman’s 6 Series does boasts a coil-over suspension and “sport” braking system, while the interior is fitted with a sport steering wheel, black instrument dial and matching aluminium detail on the pedals, footrest and parking brake handle.
